I started my CPA firm more than 20 years ago and currently have more than 34 years’ experience in taxation. My business niche is the preparation of federal estate tax returns and NJ estate and NJ inheritance tax returns as well as NY estate returns. My firm also prepares estate and trust accountings both informal (which are distributed to the beneficiaries) and formal accountings (reviewed by the surrogate’s court). I do extensive tax planning with regard to the estate and trust fiduciary income tax returns to reduce, and when possible, eliminate fiduciary taxes. The CPA’s role in estate taxation is advising executors of their duties, timing deductions for the maximum tax benefit, tax planning throughout the estate process and assisting in the expeditious settlement of the estate. Prior to starting my own firm, I was as a tax manager in the tax department of a large accounting firm in New Jersey for more than 14 years, gaining extensive experience in individual and estate taxation. I have earned two undergraduate degrees – a M.B.A. in accounting and a M.S. in taxation. I have also earned my Certified Financial Planner designation.
